What we keep when you join the newsletter, why, and how to leave.
Who we are
Sawn is a sauna company, run by its two founders, Jack and Solly, from New York and Toronto. You can reach us at info@sawngoods.com.
What we keep
When you join the newsletter, we store:
- your email address;
- the name you give us. It goes on a paper cup on the bathhouse shelf on our home page, where anyone can see it;
- the date you joined, and the page you joined from;
- which version of the signup wording you saw, as our record that you asked to hear from us;
- the country your connection came from, as reported by our host;
- a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address. We use it only to stop one address flooding the form. It isn't your IP address, but it isn't fully anonymous either, so we treat it as personal data.
That's all. Your email is never shown anywhere. Write to us if you want your cup taken off the shelf, and we don't buy lists or add anyone who didn't sign up.
What we use it for
To send you the newsletter: the build log, sauna guides, and first word when the bottle is ready to order. Nothing else. We don't sell it, rent it, or share it with anyone for their own use.
Where it's kept
Your email is stored with Cloudflare, which hosts this site. When we start sending, we'll use an email service to deliver the newsletter, so your data may be processed in the United States, Canada and the European Union. Those companies handle it on our behalf only.
Cookies and tracking
This site doesn't use advertising or tracking cookies. The cup counter on the home page remembers your cups in your own browser, and that never reaches us. The site loads its fonts from Google Fonts, so Google sees a request from your browser when a page loads. We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which doesn't use cookies or follow you to other sites. It tells us how many people came and which pages they read, nothing about who you are.
Leaving
Every email we send has an unsubscribe link. If you'd like your address deleted altogether, reply to any email from us or write to info@sawngoods.com, and we'll remove it.
